The Brief
The young family who purchased this long-vacant Edwardian property had two primary goals. They wanted to restore the home’s historic charm and blend it seamlessly with contemporary living. The refurbishment of this property was comprehensive, spanning both interior and exterior renovations, along with the addition of a spacious extension to house the kitchen, informal living, and dining area. The kitchen was to be the heart of this transformation—a space where history, modernity, and family life could coexist in perfect harmony.
A Family-Centric Design Approach
Throughout the project, careful attention was paid to preserving the home’s architectural character while seamlessly incorporating modern elements to suit the rhythm of contemporary family life. The kitchen needed to be as suitable for casual breakfasts at the island as it was for hosting lively gatherings with friends. To achieve this, we carefully planned the layout and integrated details aligned with the client’s specific needs and preferences.
One standout feature is the larger-than-life island. Acting as the room’s centrepiece and social hub, it boasts bespoke curved bench seating, integrated storage, and even a McQuvee wine fridge. Whether used for casual family meals, homework sessions, or evening entertaining, this island is a testament to blending form and function.
Concealed storage, tall cabinets, and bifold pantries flank the space, ensuring that everything has its place. The double-height pantry maximises storage for family essentials, while the stunning reeded glass cabinet adds texture and elegance, stylishly showcasing dishware and glassware.
A Space Tailored for Togetherness
One of the highlights of this renovation is how it fosters togetherness. The curved bench seating allows the family to gather informally, with conversations flowing naturally across the table. Guests are drawn to this space during social events, creating a sense of warmth and inclusion.
Industrial refinement defines the entire experience, with the Crittall doors opening onto a charming, leafy garden. This seamless connectivity between indoor and outdoor spaces elevates the kitchen from a functional room to an experience, bringing fresh air and natural light into daily life.
A Harmonious Palette and Luxurious Finishes
The kitchen’s beauty is rooted in its carefully curated colour palette and premium finishes. Our exclusive paint colour, Azurite, sets the tone, infusing the space with a calm yet bold presence. This relaxed blue shade, with its hints of grey and green undertones, creates a grounded atmosphere while adding a pop of visual interest that lifts the heart of the home.
When paired with wood tones and Caesarstone Organic White worktops, the palette perfectly balances warmth and modernity. Matt black handles and fixtures, including the Quooker tap, further enhance the room’s contemporary aesthetic while harmonising with the Crittall window and door details.
The design extends beyond finishes to include meticulously crafted focal points. The thoughtfully preserved and accentuated chimney breast detail provides a nod to the property’s heritage. When viewed alongside the surrounding modern elements, it creates a stunning contrast that perfectly encapsulates the home’s balance of old-world charm and contemporary luxury.

No luxury kitchen is complete without state-of-the-art appliances; this space was no exception. Effortless cooking is made possible with a Bertazzoni range cooker and Westin extractor, which seamlessly integrate into the space. A built-in fridge-freezer also provides ample space for a family’s weekly shop, ensuring everything is close at hand when needed.
The organisation of this kitchen supports the flow of family life, with a design that encourages movement and interaction without compromising efficiency. The layout is so practical yet stunning; from quick dinners to family baking sessions, it’s perfect for every occasion.
